The walk is on flat sand but there is a little wading through gullies – so old trainers are ideal. Bare feet are not recommended.

The walk is organised and escorted by the Fleetwood Lifeboat crew with the help of Her Majesty’s Coastguard.

We will be assembling on the beach behind the Marine Hall in Fleetwood from 15-45 hrs. Check-in will open at 16-00. The walk will start following a short safety briefing.

The walk is free but may we please suggest that it is in aid of the Lifeboat – so any donations / purchases from the Lifeboat Shop stall will be gratefully received.

Children supervised by adults and dogs on leads are welcome. We expect to be back by about 19-30 hrs.

Check-in can be speeded up by printing the following registration form and handing it in to the marshals on the day.

It is very important that all walkers CHECK IN beforehand and then SIGN OUT afterwards with the marshals.

Speed up your registration by filling in the Walk Registration Form.

If you are able to advertise the walk for us, please print the poster here.

Good evening everyone.

We could not have asked for nicer weather today for Lifeboat Day. The sun was shining all day with not a cloud in the sky.

The RNLI put on a great day and was rewarded with a great turnout by the community. From early doors till the stalls were put away the promenade was busy with people having a great day.

As you know we set up a stall for people to come and see us and I have to say it was a delight. We had a great response from everyone who spoke to us. Many memories was shared about the industry from wives talking about husbands, children talking about fathers and even ex-trawlermen talking about their times at sea.

I would like to thank everyone who donated to the RNLI collection box on the stall it was greatly received on behalf of the Lifeboat. I also would like to thank anyone who purchased a photograph or book, as well as those who stopped by the stall and just looked around and had a chat. We hope you found the stall interesting.

Last but not least, thanks to Jim, Peter and my father for their help today.

Photos of the day can be found by clicking here.

Hello Everyone,

This evening the annual Midsummer Nights Walk to Wyre Light was held by the Fleetwood RNLI. The weather was perfect for the walkers not to hot and not to cold.

The turnout was superb with close to a thousand people walking the sands. Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening of wet muddy fun.

The RNLI also had a Hovercraft waiting at Wyre Light for us all to have a look around and allowed the younger children to climb aboard.

I would like to thank the Fleetwood Lifeboat crew who made this all possible.

You can view images of the evening here.

We also recorded two short video clips from the walk. Part 1, Part 2.
